You may have read that the founder of Papa John’s Pizza, John Schnatter, has stepped down as chairman of the company due to offensive language he used on a business call.
Now he’s getting divorced and has also filed a lawsuit against the ad agency that was on the other end of Schnatter’s disastrous call. Of course, these celebrity lawsuits receive a ton of attention, but what’s going on with the rest of us?
There are over 40 million lawsuits filed in the U.S. each year and it’s a growth industry. Minor fender benders lead to claims of neck and back injuries, tenants are using mold claims to sue for huge dollars, and claims such as “wage an hour” are everywhere.
